Weather you need a  shade, drought or high foot traffic tolerant sod variety, we got you covered. We only work with Varieties that thrive in our Texas weather. Variations include Bermuda, Saint Augustine and Zoysia sod.

Soil Preparation

We will prepare the site by properly removing any previous vegetation, removing unwanted debris, ensuring sprinklers are functional, rotor till, adding enriched top-soil ,  compacting the area , and  finally rolling the freshly installed grass to ensure a healthy  rooting.

Bermuda Varieties

. Celebration- Deep blue color, high drought resistant- low shade tolerant- 

. Tif-Tuf- High drought tolerant, retains color longer into fall, greens up earlier in spring. great for Full sun.

. Tifway 419-Fine texture, highly dense and foot traffic resistant, Dark green color, used in sports fields  and golf courses. Poor shade tolerant, traffic resistance. 

. Tacoma 31-Fine texture, blue green color, great for sports fields, golf courses &  great heat/cold/traffic tolerance.

Common Bermuda- Fine texture, drought/heat/Hardy tolerant, foot traffic tolerant, coarse leaf, light green color.

. Hybrid Celebration Bermuda-  An improved high quality variety that has a fine blade. Its dense growth and fast recovery makes it perfect for sports fields and golf courses. It is drought, heat  and traffic tolerant under full sun.

Saint Augustine Varieties

. Palmetto- Cold hardy, adaptable to moderate shade, coarse texture, medium to dark green in color, thrives in heat of summer. Needs 3-4 hrs. of daily sun.  Tolerates better foot traffic than Raleigh.

. Raleigh- Shade and draught tolerant. coarse texture, medium to dark green color.

. Cobalt- superior drought tolerant, heat and shade tolerant, winter hardy, does well during summer months., great in partial shade

. Pro-vista-deep green color, weed resistance, slow growth, low maintenance, full sun, resistant to glyphosate, Thrives in summer months, tolerates Most North Texas  winters. Needs 4hrs. of daily sun,  not the most shade tolerant, occasional foot traffic on established turf.

Zoysia Varieties

. Cavalier-Fine bladed, high traffic tolerant, shade tolerant, highly resistant to pest/ diseases. fine texture, low growth, cold weather/foot traffic tolerant

. Toro-Dark green, dense, drought / shade/ foot traffic tolerant, carpet like texture, low maintenance.

.Emerald-Fine blade, highly dense, carpet like texture, dark emerald green color, low growth, high heat tolerant,  high shade tolerant, high foot traffic tolerant. Resistant to deceases/ insect problems.

. Empire-Durable, broad blade, drought tolerant, dark green color, 

. Jamur -Premium dense blade, low maintenance, blue green color, high drought tolerance, high wear resistance. Full sun or partial shade.

. Zeon-Fine blade, high shade tolerant, soft feel &  dense growth.

.Zorro-Fine blade, dark green, shade tolerant, low water usage & high traffic durability.

.Palisades-Medium blade drought /shade and cold tolerant, medium texture, dark green color, low growing dense turf,  Great wear resistance.

.Geo- Fine blade, dark green, high shade tolerant, high foot traffic resistant, drought resistant, low maintenance.

.Stadium- Dark green, quick recover from wear( high foot traffic tolerance) shade tolerant.

.Trinity- Fine blade, dense, slow growth, high traffic tolerant, draught resistant.

.Laser- ultra fine blade, dense growth , high drought/shade tolerant, vibrant green color, low water resistance, low mowing requirements

Manicured Backyard Lawn

Post installation Care

. Day 1: Water Sod immediately after installation 2"-3”

(only time this much water is used ) 

. Day 2-10- Water daily in hot weather conditions, ¼” -1/2” ( 1-2 times a day.)   Cooler months  to ¼”-1/2” completed over span of 2-3 days. 

. Day 10 and beyond: water 1”/ week

. ADDITIONAL TIPS:

-Keep minimum foot traffic 1st month.

-Ok to mow-14 days after installation ( once rooted) 

-Mow every week during peak growth

-No fertilizers the first month after installation

- Starter fertilizer OK after 4 weeks post installation (recommended brands: Lesco & The Andersons  18-24-12) 

-NO “weed and feed” fertilizers, NO herbicides for months ( allow a Full season of dormancy) .

Established Turf Care

Bermuda

Spring:

Scalp to promote new growth

1 inch of water a week

Fertilize

Pre-emergent early in spring Mid February 

Summer : 

Mow about  0.5–1.5 inches

1-inch of water weekly. 

Fertilize about every 3 months

To avoid damage it  is not recommended that you apply an herbicide at this time.;

Treat with a broad-spectrum fungicide or insecticide  if needed.

Fall :

Slightly higher  growth will encourage deeper root growth which helps it survive in Winter.

Water less to avoid disease.

Fertilize

Apply pre-emergent herbicides to control winter annual and perennial weeds ( mid September) 

Check for and control any grubs and recommended you apply a fungicide.

Saint Augustine

Spring:

2–4 inches in height

Watering 1 inch of water a week

Fertilize

Apply a pre-emergent( mid February ) 

Apply a broad-spectrum insecticide

Apply a systemic fungicide 

Summer :

Mowing heights during the summer 2-4 inches

 inch of water weekly

Fertilize monthly

Herbicide not recommended at this time

Check for  grubs, chinch bugs, army worms, mole crickets  and web worms for treatment.

Check for gray leaf spots and treat if needed. 

Fall : 

Mow less often and keep grass higher than the normal 2-4 inches.

As the temperatures drop , water less.

Fertilize

Apply pre-emergent herbicides

Check for  grubs, chinch bugs, army worms, mole crickets  and web worms for treatment. ( mid September) 

 

Apply a fungicide at preventative rates as this will help the grass enter colder months in a healthier condition.

Zoysia

Spring : 

1st mow  should be low  and Clippings bagged up.

1-inch of water a week.

Fertilize

Apply a pre-emergent herbicide when soil temperatures reach 55 degrees ( mid February) 

Apply insecticide

Apply fungicide

Summer : 

Never remove more than 1/3 of the leaf blade.

1.5” of water weekly.

Fertilize

Herbicide is not recommended at this time.

Check and if needed treat : Billbugs, Grubs and mole crickets

Fungus is uncommon at this time

​

Fall: 

Keep grass blade between 0.5"–2" inches.

Water to prevent drought  while grass is actively growing and after stages of dormancy to prevent dehydration.

Fertilize

Apply pre-emergent (mid -September) 

apply a fungicide  at common sick patches .
